Assignment 5 connecting peripherals

Introduction

I have been asked to show how peripherals are connected to the computer first I had to show how to connect a camera then had to show how to connect a speakers and take pictures of me doing this.  Each picture that I used I had to describe what I was doing for example: turning of the plugs, connecting the speakers to back on the computer.

This is computer folder which shows that the Camera is connected to the computer the camera is called (FinePix JK300) i got all of the pictures from the camera so the camera is working fine.

When I double clicked into the digital camera (FinePix JK300) I folder appeared external memory.

This is me connecting the usb lead for the camera to the desktop. 

This is me connecting the speaker back of the desktop and I also had to switch the computer off to connect the speakers so that I didn’t get an electric shock.

This is me connecting the usb to the camera the usb connected to the camera at the bottom of the device. i had turn off the camera to connect it to the desktop just in case i was to get an electrocuted.

Assignment 5 Health and safety

Screens

All new screens should be fitted with tilt and swivel stands. Sufficient room is needed for the screen to be moved back and forward. The top of the screen should at eye level. You screen you not be too bright but also not to dull. Because if the screen was to bright are you were looking at it for a long period of time your eyes would get strained and many even damaged.

Making yourself comfortable  

As for any task that means working in one position for some time, it's important to make yourself as comfortable as possible when you use your computer. Place the monitor in front of you and at a comfortable viewing distance. If you're working from a document you might find it better to have that directly in front of you and the screen to one side. Try to position the top of the monitor display slightly below eye level when you're sitting at the keyboard.

What you should do before you start

Adjust the positions of the screen, the keyboard, the mouse and the documents you're working from, so as to achieve the most comfortable arrangement. Make sure that you have space to use your mouse easily, and rest your wrists in front of the keyboard when not typing.

Adjust the position of your chair to give you a comfortable viewing distance and posture. The screen should probably be somewhere between eighteen and thirty inches away from you.

Keeping a good posture

To keep a good posture you must sit up straight at all times and you must not slouch over. You must also keep your feet flat on the floor and look straight at the screen. The picture below is the correct posture and you must sit like this at all times.

If you have a problem with your feet touching the ground you should get a foot rest.

Safety is important when working in the I.T industry. If you do not be carful when working n a computer you can get short term are long term injury.  These injuries may occur if you spend too much time on the computer e.g. looking at screen to long, back injury, repetitive strain injury etc.

Your work station should be as tidy as possible. This will make it a safe environment to work in as nothing will be in danger of being knocked over e.g. glass of water. If some sort of liquid was knocked over it could fall on electrical equipment and this could cause a fire to occur.

If you are connecting any peripherals you must to turn the computer off first and then when you have done this now you can connect peripherals safely with out getting an electrical shock.

When connecting a camera to a computer you must turn off the computer to ensure that you do not get an electric shock. Then you must turn off the camera and take the battery out of the device to also make sure you do not get a shock. Then it is safe to connect the camera to the desktop first you plug the usb lead into the desktop and then plug the usb in to the camera. Now it is safe to turn you computer on and start transferring files and photos to your computer.  

When I was connecting the speakers I also had to turn the computer off then I connected the speaker the speaker had to be connected at the back of the computer when I had the speakers connected to the computer I went on to you tube and played music to see if the speaker is connected and working.

No log on to the network

 If a company are a business has no log in anyone can access the information on the company employees and the companies costumers and this is apart of the data protection act 1998 the act was taken in to protect people personal information on there bank details and address and any other information the company has o the costumers.

 

 

 Internet (unrestricted access)

If there is unrestricted access to the internet for the employees could get viruses on the computer and hackers could then access the costumer’s information as then employees have been on website with viruses and download files that could corrupt the computed and cause a lot of problems. Also the employees could get easily distracted by other websites.

Staff is allowed to install and remove software

The staff could remove very important software from the company computers and add harmful software to the computers if the employees were to remove software they could be deleting some of the costumers’ information that is saved on the computer software. Also if they were to add new software it could be a cheap on with a lot of virus.

Data is backed up once a month. 

The problem with only backing up the data once a month is that if you where to lose three weeks on work is would be a big lose and could really damage the company. But if you wear to back up the data every night are every to days it wouldn’t be a big of a loss.

Data tapes are kept secure in a locked plastic box on top of the server

Te problem with keeping the data on top on the server is that if the sever was to over heat the plastic box could melt and destroy all of the data. Also the point of having back up data id because if there was a fire and flood the back up would be destroyed. The backup data should be kept in a fire proof box and in a different location

The company keeps records in a database on customers. This information includes:

If the company is going to be holding costumers information on there purchases, account numbers, bank details, and names and address etc there must be a log in so that not everyone can access the user information the and the information should not be available  to all of the companies staff members. Discuss costumer’s details it is meant to be confidentiality I have also heard staff members talking on the phone and giving costumers details over the phone which you should not be doing because you don’t know who the person is on the other side of the phone.

My friend contacted me ask for help because he is experiencing slow response times and poor video response. I was asked to look at the computer and fix it for him to fix the slow response time in his computer he may need to wipe his computer as there could be virus on his computer and clean out his fans and the inside of his computer. So that the system will not over heat .if the system was to over heat all the time it can damage the fan and other parts of the computer. There also could be virus on his computer so then he would have to wipe computer and delete all the content that he has download if he wanted to keep some of his download he would have to back them up on 2 a USB drive. Also he may need a need new ram as it is always food to have extra memory on your PC also if you add a more updated RAM to your computer; you reduce the number of times your CPU must read data from your hard disk. This usually allows your computer to work considerably faster, as RAM is many times faster than a hard disk. He could also get a new graphic card to help with the gaming lag and the slow video response a good graphic card. There could also be a problem with the CPU in the computer the CPU stands for central processing unit. Assigment 3 Task 1

This desktop and the display that I have set out can make going on a computer much easier for someone you is visually impaired are has any type of disability rather than using a normal set out of a computer. There many ways to help a child with disabilities if your son/daughter has any visual problems you can get stickers to go on the letter on the keyboards and the stickers are in and the letter are in bold. You can also gey large computer for people with eye sight problems

 They can also come in different colors these can really help your son see the keyboard more Cleary also use can use a tool called magnifier can help your son see the screen more clearly as you  can zoom up to 1600% this can help your son improve his reading on the screen. If your son can not read the screen there is an application called narrator.

Narrator is a text to speech utility for users who are blind or have impaired vision. Narrator reads what is displayed on screen the content of the active window, menu, options, or the text that you have typed on screen. For example if you click on all programs the narrator will repeat just what you click on. When using narrator you can change the languages of the speech and the set speed and set pitch.

Changes that I have made

I have changed the background color of the page so that your son can see the highlighted text more easily I have changed the background color to blue and the text color to white. Also changed the size of the icon on the desktop to help your son what he is clicking on and you can move the icons around the screen you have a choice of what size you would like you icons to be small, medium, are large. I have added new icons to the quick access tool bar see it is easier to find.
